Since that first meeting of the above locals in June 1980 we have formed a statewide association known as the United Police and Fire Retirees Association of New York, Inc to coordinate all retired Police, Firefighters, NYS Police and Deputy Sheriffs in an effort to gain benefits and to present a UNITED front for political clout.

PRIMARY GOALS:

Obtain cost of living, based on consumer Price Index, for all pensioners regardless of age and date of retirement

Grant supplemental increase to those who have attained age 50 and were retired prior to calendar year 1983

Make provisions for surviving spouses pension payment without deductions from retirees pension income

Exempt all or large portion of pension income attributable to police and fire services from Federal Income Tax

It is our aim to work closely with groups of active Police and Firefighters, some of who are associate members of our retiree associations because all active members of those groups will be retiring in the future and will have a head start at retirement
